CIGRE Symposium: 26 – 30 October 2015

CIGRE has issued a Call for Papers for its International Symposium on `Development of Electricity Infrastructures in Sub-Saharan Africa’ that will take place in Cape Town from 26 to 30 October 2015.

Abstracts must be submitted to the Central Office of CIGRE in Paris by 30 November 2014.

There is no prescribed format for the abstracts but a length of 500 words is specified. Each abstract must indicate the topic(s) that will be addressed. The name, title, company affiliation, e-mail and full address of the author(s) should also be provided.

The decision to accept or decline the proposal will be made by the relevant expert in Cigre and communicated via Cigre Paris to the authors by 31 January 2015.  A full paper will be required by 1 May 2015.

The abstracts will be reviewed by international experts in the specific field.  The topics are very wide and can cater for a large amount of research material as well as practices from rotating machines to meters.

The conference will host the President of Cigre as well as the chairman of the IEC.  Dr Rob Stephen of Eskom believes that the symposium will be `… an opportunity to showcase our expertise as well as put forward our issues for Cigre to take into working groups and find a solution’ and that papers from South African Municipalities involving voltage levels up to 132kV will be welcomed.  Thus any MV or LV issues down to metering, tariffs, etc can be submitted.

Abstracts can be sent directly to Paris at sylvie.bourneuf@cigre.org or to Dr Stephen at StepheRG@eskom.co.za (in the latter case please allow a few days for transfer to Paris).

A copy of the CIGRE `Call for Papers’ document is available here.
